Berenice Panchryos in greek Βερενίκη Πάνχρυσος (Berenike Panchrysos), is an ancient settlement, located in the north-eastern desert of Sudan, just below the twenty-second parallel, close to theWadi Allaqi gold mines of Pharaos' Nubia.
It was discovered on February 12, 1989 by an Italian expedition, composed by the Castiglioni brothers, Louis Balbo, Giancarlo Negro and Manlio Sozzani, using an Arab ninth-century map who reported a mine.
