Un'immensa necropoli con circa 50 mummie è stata scoperta nella Valle dei Re, in Egitto, nella provincia di Luxor. Le mummie ritrovate permettono di identificare più di 30 personaggi tra principi e principesse fino a questo momento completamente sconosciuti. A lavoro un'equipe di archeologi dell'Università di Basilea, in collaborazione con il Ministero delle Antichità egiziane.

The Son Doong Cave in Vietnam is the biggest cave in the world. It's over 5.5 miles long, has a jungle and river, and could fit a 40-story skyscraper within its walls.
But nobody knew any of that until four years ago.

A long time ago several groups of Kittah-priests lived in the mysterious  land of Tibet. They adored the god Song-Hyo and the goddess  Tsun Kyan-Kse. They built wonderful places to worship their gods: beautiful decorated temples covered with gold- leaf and surrounded by high walls for protection. These high walls offered protection to the priests and at the same time secured the hundred of white cats that were kept in each temple. The cats played an important role in the religion of the Kittah's: some of the priests had such  pure souls that they couldn't be missed on earth. When they died  the goddess transmitted the souls of the priests to the white cats.

La Leggenda del Gatto Sacro di Birmania

Molto tempo fa molti gruppi di monaci Kittah vivevano nel misterioso Tibet. Adoravano il dio Song-Hyo e la dea Tsun Kyan-Kse. Massive Iceberg Six Times The Size Of Manhattan Breaks Off Antarctica

WASHINGTON, April 23 (Reuters) - Scientists are monitoring an iceberg roughly six times the size of Manhattan - one of the largest now in existence - that broke off from an Antarctic glacier and is heading into the open ocean.
NASA glaciologist Kelly Brunt said on Wednesday the iceberg covers about 255 square miles (660 square km) and is up to a third of a mile (500 meters) thick. Known as B31, the iceberg separated from Antarctica's Pine Island Glacier last November, Brunt added.

Oopart is a term that comes from the English acronym "Out Of Place Artifacts" (objects or artifacts out of place). It was coined by the American naturalist and cryptozoologist Ivan Sanderson to give a name to a category of objects that seem to have a difficult historical context, i.e. they would be an anachronism. All those archaeological or paleontological finds that, according to common beliefs about the past, it is assumed they could not have existed in the age to which they relate the initial dating, are classified as oopart.

Dolphins 'call each other by name'

Scientists have found further evidence that dolphins call each other by "name".

Research has revealed that the marine mammals use a unique whistle to identify each other.

A team from the University of St Andrews in Scotland found that when the animals hear their own call played back to them, they respond.

The study is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Nine lives or one…it has certainly been long for Wadsworth, who is the world’s oldest cat after turning 27 – or 125 in human years.
The cat, known as Waddy, didn’t have the best start after being born the runt of the litter and was even thrown out by his owners.
His life began to turn around when he was adopted by 66-year-old Ann Munday in Ravensden, Bedfordshire when he was just four weeks old.

Earth 2.0? Astronomers reveal Kepler-186f, the latest planet in a habitable 'Goldilocks zone'

A planet similar in size to Earth with surface temperatures suitable for water to exist in liquid form has been discovered orbiting a distant star in what is the strongest candidate yet for a habitable world outside the Solar System.

Scientists said last night that the planet, called Kepler-186f, is the smallest “exoplanet” so far discovered and is highly likely to be a rocky planet like Earth, with its own atmosphere and solid surface where liquid water and possibly life can exist.

The "Apprentice Pillar", or "Prentice Pillar", gets its name from a legend dating from the 18th century involving the master mason in charge of the stonework in the chapel and his young apprentice.

According to the legend, reminiscent of the story of Hiram Abiff, the master mason did not believe that the apprentice could perform the complicated task of carving the column without seeing the original which formed the inspiration for the design.

The Mysteries of Rosslyn Chapel - Scotland - Part One

William Sinclair (1410–1484), 1st Earl of Caithness (1455–1476), 3rd Earl of Orkney (1455–1470), Baron of Roslin was a Scottish nobleman and the builder of Rosslyn Chapel, in Midlothian.

According to Dr Robert Lomax, Rosslyn Chapel was bulit to house artifacts brought by the Knights Templar to Scotland in 1126. Lomax states "Between 1118 and 1128 the Templars excavated the ruins of Herod’s Temple in Jerusalem.

Sono stati necessari ben 40 anni per poter realizzare il capolavoro medievale della cappella di Rosslyn, per dar vita ad un luogo di culto diverso da tutte le altre chiese del mondo. Il conte William Sinclair, che ne ordino' la costruzione nel 1446 e Sir. Gilbert Haye, che ne supervisiono' i lavori, erano due tra gli uomini piu' potenti e colti d'Europa. Abili scultori e incesellatori furono convocati per poter ricavare una libreria nella pietra che, al contempo, fosse anche un luogo carico di simbolismo.
